Clean City to Assess Blighted and Vacant Properties in the District of Columbia

Mayor Muriel Bowser has tasked the Office of the Clean City to assess blighted and vacant properties in the District of Columbia. Currently, properties are reported vacant by citizens. Now in addition to the cleanliness assessment ratings, Clean City will log the property into an ArcGIS application suited by the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, to handle this task. Properties that are open and assessable or deemed hazardous will be directly reported to the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). The Department of Public Works (DPW) will abate vacant lots with no structure that presents tall grass and trash. The results of the Clean City ratings and the vacant/blighted property assessments will be made available to the public each quarter.
